To add subtitles to a video — and translate them into another language — you don't need an editor or a subtitle file. Send the video to the @vfixbot Telegram bot and reply “add English subtitles”. The bot recognizes the speech, splits it into lines by speaker, translates if needed and burns the subtitles right into the picture. You get a video that shows the text everywhere: in Telegram, Instagram, TikTok, on any phone.
How to add subtitles to a video
- Open @vfixbot in Telegram and tap “Start”.
- Send the bot the video: forward it, upload it from your phone or paste a link — YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter / X, VK, Reddit and more.
- Reply to the video with add subtitles or name the language: with Spanish subtitles.
- Shortly after, the bot sends back the video with subtitles burned in.
The link and the request can go in one message: link + add English subtitles.
Translate subtitles into any language
The speech can be in one language and the subtitles in another. Just say which one you need:
- add English subtitles — a Russian, Spanish or Korean video gets English text;
- with German subtitles, subtitles in Turkish, Arabic subtitles — any language;
- add subtitles without a language — the subtitles come in the language you wrote the request in.
The bot translates the whole dialogue with context, line by line, so the meaning holds together. If a translation didn't work out, it says so honestly instead of silently giving you subtitles in the wrong language.
What the subtitles look like
- Karaoke highlighting. Words light up exactly as they're spoken — the viewer always knows where the speech is.
- Different colors for speakers. In an interview or a dialogue each person gets their own color, so it's clear who says what.
- Readable on any background. Bold font on a semi-transparent plate, lines wrapped to fit the frame — vertical or horizontal.
- Burned in. Subtitles are part of the picture: no separate .srt file, nothing to switch on in the player.
Long videos too
Subtitles work for videos up to 60 minutes — interviews, lectures, podcasts, whole episodes. Videos longer than 30 minutes are rendered in 720p so the file stays manageable; Premium files go up to 500 MB.
Combine with other edits
- first minute with English subtitles — trim and subtitle in one go;
- from 2:10 to 3:00 with subtitles, then compress to 20 MB — ready to send by email or messenger;
- zoom in on the speaker and add subtitles — the frame follows the person;
- add subtitles and mute it — text only, no sound.
Need a single caption instead of speech subtitles? Ask for it: add caption "Best day ever" at the top — the bot places your text on the video, and you can set where and when it shows.
Limits and price
- Subtitles are a Premium feature: a one-time 99 Telegram Stars, no subscription. The first Premium request is free.
- Videos up to 60 minutes. If there's no speech, the bot tells you instead of sending empty subtitles.
- Splitting by speaker uses the bot's video understanding — up to 3 such requests a day; beyond that you still get subtitles, in one color.
- GIFs, round videos and voice messages are made without subtitles.
- Free plan: 5 videos an hour, files up to 20 MB. Premium: 15 an hour, files up to 500 MB.
Why a bot and not a subtitle editor
Online subtitle tools make you upload the video, wait for recognition, fix the timing and export — often with a watermark or a paid plan for translation. The bot takes a link, does recognition, translation and styling at once, and returns a finished video in the chat. Nothing to install, nothing to configure.
More things the bot does
Summarize a video and answer questions about it, make a GIF or a round video message, compress a video to the size you need. All features are on the Telegram bot page.
