Need a video under 10 MB for Discord, under 25 MB for an email attachment, or just smaller so it sends faster? Send it to the @vfixbot Telegram bot and reply “compress to 10 MB”. The bot picks the bitrate and resolution itself so the file lands right under the size you named — no settings, no codecs, no guessing.
How to compress a video to a specific size
- Open @vfixbot in Telegram and tap “Start”.
- Send the bot the video: forward it, upload it from your phone or paste a link to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter / X, VK or another platform.
- Reply to the video with compress to 10 MB — or any other number: make it fit in 8 MB, compress to 25 MB.
- The bot sends back the compressed video and writes the result in the caption: 📦 48 → 9.8 MB.
No number in mind? Make it smaller or compress it — the bot halves the size.
How it works
- Exact target. The bot calculates the bitrate from the video's length and the size you asked for, and re-encodes to H.264 — the format every phone and messenger plays.
- Resolution goes down only when needed. For a tight target the frame is made smaller: a smaller sharp picture looks better than a large blurry one.
- Sound stays. On a tight budget audio is re-encoded to AAC 64 kbit/s — speech and music remain clear.
- Already small enough? If the video is already under the target, the bot sends it as is and says so: 📦 already 4.1 MB.
Honest about the minimum
Some sizes are simply too small for a video's length. Below roughly 1.6 MB per minute of video the picture turns into mush — and the bot won't pretend otherwise. Instead of a useless file it tells you the real minimum: a 3:12 video can't be smaller than 5.1 MB without turning to mush. Then you decide: trim the video, take a bigger target, or make a GIF.
A quick guide: 10 MB fits about 6 minutes, 25 MB — about 15 minutes at the lowest acceptable quality. Shorter videos get noticeably better quality at the same size.
Trim and compress in one go
Compression is always the last step, so it counts the size of exactly what you'll receive:
- cut from 0:30 to 1:30 and compress to 8 MB — a piece that fits;
- speed up 2x and compress to 10 MB — a faster video is shorter and needs fewer megabytes;
- add English subtitles and compress to 20 MB — subtitles first, then the size;
- GIF under 5 MB — GIFs can be compressed too.
Limits and price
- Compression is a Premium feature: a one-time 99 Telegram Stars, no subscription. Your first Premium request is free.
- Premium handles source files up to 500 MB — downloaded by link or sent from a chat. On the free plan, files are up to 20 MB.
- Free plan: 5 videos an hour. Premium: 15 an hour.
- Audio-only (mp3) isn't compressed — it's already small.
Why a bot instead of a video compressor website
- You name the size, not the bitrate. Most compressors offer “low / medium / high” and you guess. The bot hits the number you said.
- No upload from your phone. A link is enough — the bot downloads the video itself on its fast connection.
- No watermark, no sign-up — and the result is already in Telegram, ready to forward.
- It tells the truth when the size is unrealistic, instead of handing you an unwatchable file.
More things the bot does
Make a GIF or a round video message, burn in subtitles with translation, summarize a video. All features are on the Telegram bot page.
